My name is Laura, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I love hamburgers. Preferably with a big glass of red wine on the side.  There you go.

I found  my love for food very early in life, my Portuguese family constantly cooking, baking, canning, foraging, and butchering.  While in college I started working at two 5 star restaurants in Beverly Hills, California where I stayed for 7 years.  After tech tanked and along with it my PR career in 2000, I decided to study food and wine in depth, attended culinary school for 3 years, worked in catering for 2 years, got another fine dining service job here in Oakland and I loved every minute of it. Finally, I combined all my talents and passions and started my own wedding and event planning business in 2003. I love people, parties, cooking, food, wine and everything about the place I was born and raised- Oakland, California.  I started this blog as a diary of my adventures therein.
